Here’s Why Chicago’s Carnegie Hall Concerts Were So Historic

Chicago made history in New York City on April 5th, 1971. They became the first American rock group to perform at Carnegie Hall.

While there, they performed six sold-out concerts. The recordings were included in the album Chicago At Carnegie Hall.

At the same time, Chicago’s 5th single was being played on the radio.¬†Free¬†peaked at #20 on the Billboard charts in April 1971.
